SEASONAL ICE ALERT

The Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay has set a Seasonal Ice Alert for navigation on the Delaware River, Delaware Bay, Chesapeake Canal, Delaware Canal, all existing tributaries, and the New Jersey and Delaware Shores. Mariners observing any ice conditions are asked to report them using the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay Ice Reporting Form located on the unit’s website. The address is:

Mariners can also report conditions to the CG Sector Delaware Bay Command Center on VHF Channel 16 or call (215) 271-4807.

The Maritime Exchange is forwarding the following from the Mariners' Advisory Committee for the Bay and River Delaware for your information.

Navigation Notices: Due to soundings for the Upper Delaware that were recently published by the the USACE, the MAC Transit Advisories will be amended to read as follows until further notice:

Upper Delaware River/Vessel Draft Inbound

1. Vessels less than 32`06" FW may transit on any stage of the tide or current.

2. Vessels 32`06" FW or greater up to 38`06" FW in draft should arrive in Philadelphia Harbor no later than 8 hours and 15 minutes, or earlier than 5 hours and 45 minutes from slack flood current at Cape Henlopen.

3. Vessels 32`06" FW or greater up to 38`06" FW in draft shall avoid meeting outbound shipping traffic above the Delair Railroad Bridge.

ISLAND DE AND FOR DELAWARE BAY...

 Low pressure will intensify through today as it moves northeast

through New England with windy conditions to follow in its wake

today through Thursday. High pressure will then build in Friday

through early Saturday. A low pressure system may then impact the

area with snow Saturday night and Sunday as it passes south of the

area. High pressure then looks to return early next week.
