SEASONAL ICE ALERT

The Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay has set a Seasonal Ice Alert for navigation on the Delaware River, Delaware Bay, Chesapeake Canal, Delaware Canal, all existing tributaries, and the New Jersey and Delaware Shores. Mariners observing any ice conditions are asked to report them using the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay Ice Reporting Form located on the unit’s website. The address is:

Mariners can also report conditions to the CG Sector Delaware Bay Command Center on VHF Channel 16 or call (215) 271-4807.

The Maritime Exchange is forwarding the following from the Mariners' Advisory Committee for the Bay and River Delaware for your information.

Navigation Notices: Due to soundings for the Upper Delaware that were recently published by the the USACE, the MAC Transit Advisories will be amended to read as follows until further notice:

Upper Delaware River/Vessel Draft Inbound

1. Vessels less than 32`06" FW may transit on any stage of the tide or current.

2. Vessels 32`06" FW or greater up to 38`06" FW in draft should arrive in Philadelphia Harbor no later than 8 hours and 15 minutes, or earlier than 5 hours and 45 minutes from slack flood current at Cape Henlopen.

3. Vessels 32`06" FW or greater up to 38`06" FW in draft shall avoid meeting outbound shipping traffic above the Delair Railroad Bridge.

 High pressure over the Northeast will move slowly offshore tonight.

A strong cold front will move through the Mid-Atlantic Tuesday

night, followed by cold high pressure for the rest of the week. A

system may affect the area this weekend.

TUESDAY MORNING

 

TODAY

NE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt, becoming E

5 to 10 kt late. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Swell mainly from the NE with a

dominant period of 7 seconds.

 

TONIGHT

SE winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming S 10 to 15 kt with gusts

up to 25 kt in the late evening and overnight. Seas 2 ft or less,

then 3 to 4 ft in the late evening and overnight. Swell mainly

from the NE with a dominant period of 5 seconds.  A chance of

rain after midnight. Rain likely late.

 

TUE

SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 3 to

4 ft. Swell mainly from the E with a dominant period of

6 seconds.  A chance of rain early in the morning.

 

TUE NIGHT

SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt,

becoming W 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt in the late evening

and early morning, then increasing to 20 to 25 kt with gusts up

to 35 kt late. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Swell mainly from the SE with a

dominant period of 9 seconds.  A chance of rain in the late

evening and early morning.

 

WED

W winds 20 to 25 kt, becoming NW 25 to 30 kt in the

afternoon. Gusts up to 40 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft.

 

WED NIGHT

NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Seas

4 to 6 ft.

 

THU

NW winds around 25 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft.

 

THU NIGHT

NW winds 20 to 25 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft.

 

FRI

NW winds 15 to 20 kt, diminishing to 10 to 15 kt in the

afternoon. Seas 3 to 4 ft.
