Maritime Operations Committee
Maritime Exchange Navigation Group

The Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay, issued MSIB 36-18 setting Port Condition Whiskey Modified due to the potential for Hurricane Michael to impact the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware area in the next 72 hours.

The COTP has determined the Ports of Philadelphia, Camden, Wilmington, and surrounding areas will likely experience heavy rains, tropical storm force winds, increased seas, surf, and tidal surge.  Members of the port community should take adequate precautions and review the Severe Weather Contingency Plan.

In the event that the COTP imposes further restrictions, they will be broadcasted on VHF-FM Channel 16.  Additionally, all notifications will be forwarded to the Maritime Exchange and will be available as requested.

If you have any questions regarding the contents of this bulletin or expectations of the Captain of the Port can be directed to 215-271-4807 or 267-515-7294.

TO:        Maritime Operations Committee

Maritime Exchange Navigation Group

The Captain of the Port, Delaware Bay, issued MSIB 34-18 (Update 1) notifying mariners of two objects reported just outside the main navigational channel of the Mifflin Range, within the boundaries of Mantua Creek Anchorage #9 on the Delaware River.

Mariners are advised to use extreme caution when transiting this portion of Mantua Creek Anchorage as some depths at mean low low water could be hazardous to navigation. Vessels drafting over 30 feet should avoid this area and transit around the objects.

Please review the MSIB for object locations and the chartlet.

If you have any questions regarding the content of this bulletin, please contact the Waterways Management staff at 215-271-4814/4889 or the Command Center at 215-271-4807.
