The Maritime Exchange is forwarding the following MSIB from the United States Coast Guard for your information.

MSIB 24-18 DIVING OPERATION IN MARCUS HOOK ANCHORAGE (CHANGE 3)

The Captain of the Port (COTP), Delaware Bay, is notifying mariners that Commerce Construction will be conducting surveying and diving operations in Marcus Hook Anchorage No. 7 on the Delaware River, beginning on April 30, 2018 through June 30, 2018.

A safety zone will be in place in all navigable waters within 250 yards of the diving vessels, as well as any associated equipment operating in Marcus Hook Anchorage.

***Beginning at 5:00 am on Monday, May 14, 2018 through sunset on Friday, May 18, 2018, diving and pipeline removal operations will be conducted on the green side of the channel at approximately 39° 48.162” N, 075° 25.391” W. Work will be conducted daily from approximately 5:00 am through 7:00 pm. Please see attached chartlet for approximate location.***

Any vessel requesting to enter or transit the safety zone during these hours must contact the crane barge KELLY or towing vessel JOKER via VHF-FM Channel 13 or 16 to make satisfactory passing arrangements. Vessels may also contact Sector Delaware Bay’s command center via VHF-FM channel 16 to request permission to enter.

Vessels must operate at the minimum safe speed necessary to maintain steerage and reduce wake when transiting in the anchorage and main navigational channel in the vicinity of the safety zone.

 .SYNOPSIS FOR THE COASTAL WATERS FROM SANDY HOOK NJ TO FENWICK

ISLAND DE AND FOR DELAWARE BAY...

 The cold front that moved through the region on Tuesday will be

nearly stationary over the Mid-Atlantic, and several waves of low

pressure will move through the region through the end of the week.

The front lifts north as a warm front on Saturday, and then a

cold front passes through the region on Sunday. Another cold front

could affect the area early in the new week.

SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft. Swell mainly from the

SE with a dominant period of 7 seconds.  Patchy fog early in the

morning. Showers in the morning, then showers with a chance of

tstms in the afternoon. Vsby 1 to 3 NM early in the morning.

 

THU NIGHT

SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft. Swell mainly

from the SE with a dominant period of 7 seconds.  Showers with a

chance of tstms early in the evening, then showers in the late

evening and overnight. Patchy fog after midnight with vsby 1 to

3 NM.

 

FRI

SE winds 5 to 10 kt, increasing to 10 to 15 kt with gusts

up to 20 kt in the afternoon. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Patchy fog in the

morning. Showers. Vsby 1 to 3 NM in the morning.

 

FRI NIGHT

SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Gusts up to 20 kt in the

evening. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Showers. Patchy fog. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.

 

SAT

S winds 5 to 10 kt, increasing to 10 to 15 kt in the

afternoon. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Patchy fog in the morning. Showers

likely. Vsby 1 to 3 NM in the morning.
