The Maritime Exchange is forwarding the following MSIB from the United States Coast Guard for your information.

MSIB 24-18 DIVING OPERATION IN MARCUS HOOK ANCHORAGE (CHANGE 3)

The Captain of the Port (COTP), Delaware Bay, is notifying mariners that Commerce Construction will be conducting surveying and diving operations in Marcus Hook Anchorage No. 7 on the Delaware River, beginning on April 30, 2018 through June 30, 2018.

A safety zone will be in place in all navigable waters within 250 yards of the diving vessels, as well as any associated equipment operating in Marcus Hook Anchorage.

***Beginning at 5:00 am on Monday, May 14, 2018 through sunset on Friday, May 18, 2018, diving and pipeline removal operations will be conducted on the green side of the channel at approximately 39° 48.162” N, 075° 25.391” W. Work will be conducted daily from approximately 5:00 am through 7:00 pm. Please see attached chartlet for approximate location.***

Any vessel requesting to enter or transit the safety zone during these hours must contact the crane barge KELLY or towing vessel JOKER via VHF-FM Channel 13 or 16 to make satisfactory passing arrangements. Vessels may also contact Sector Delaware Bay’s command center via VHF-FM channel 16 to request permission to enter.

Vessels must operate at the minimum safe speed necessary to maintain steerage and reduce wake when transiting in the anchorage and main navigational channel in the vicinity of the safety zone.

ISLAND DE AND FOR DELAWARE BAY...

 Weak low pressure over the Delmarva moves off the Mid-Atlantic coast

later this morning. A strong cold front then moves through the

region later this afternoon and this evening. That front becomes

nearly stationary south of the area, and then lifts north as a warm

front later this week and into the weekend. A cold front crosses the

region early next week.

showers and tstms early this morning. A slight chance of showers

and tstms late. Vsby 1 to 3 NM early this morning.

 

TONIGHT

S winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt,

diminishing to 5 to 10 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, subsiding to 3 to 4 ft

late. Swell mainly from the S with a dominant period of

7 seconds.  Tstms likely in the evening. Showers. Tstms after

midnight.

 

WED

S winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming E in the late morning and

afternoon. Seas 3 to 4 ft. Swell mainly from the S with a

dominant period of 6 seconds.  Showers. A chance of tstms in the

afternoon.

 

WED NIGHT

S winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming SW late. Seas around

3 ft. Swell mainly from the S with a dominant period of

6 seconds.  Showers likely. Patchy fog. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.

3 to 4 ft. Patchy fog in the morning. Showers likely in the

morning, then showers likely with a chance of tstms in the

chance of tstms in the evening, then showers after midnight.
